February 25 2013: While most award chatter this past weekend focused on The Oscars, the night preceding Sunday’s annual Hollywood spectacular was set aside for an equally important event for the drum & bass community…
Now in its seventh year, the Drum & Bass Awards – managed and organised by the same behind the carnage-guaranteed promoters of Raveology – celebrates every aspect of the drum & bass scene while hosting an unforgettable party in the process. Held annually in Birmingham, in the past the event has been broadcast live on both Radio1 and Sky TV.
In a recent interview with Drum&BassArena, the show’s main organiser MC Magika explained how our own brand’s awards (Drum&BassArena Awards) and his awards worked together in a rather neat, complementary tandem. With such a large pool of talent working hard throughout every aspect of drum & bass (from labels to MCs to promoters), there’s definitely enough to celebrate to necessitate two award ceremonies.
And this year we’re proud to announce that AEI’s flagship legacy brand Drum&BassArena successfully picked up two of the highest accolades: The brand achieved Best Website/Magazine and the brand founder James Cotterill (known in the drum & bass community at large as The Risky) was recognised for a Behind The Scenes Lifetime Achievement. Representing the scene since 1996, James’s support has assisted myriad artist careers, labels, promoters and DJs. It’s fantastic to see this support acknowledged by such a reputable voice.
During his two speeches James was quick to highlight the hard work of all AEI staff who work in the brand and promises more exciting plans for 2013 and beyond.
Other winners at The Drum & Bass Awards include Grooverider (Lifetime Achievement), Andy C (Best DJ / Best Live Act), Hazard (Best Album, Best Track, Best producer) and Friction (Best Radio Show). See the full results here.
AEI would like to thank everyone who voted for Drum&BassArena and encourage plenty more as we continue to develop our longest-standing brand.
